What is the Connection Mmethod of 316L Stainless Steel Pipe and Its Application Process?

The stainless steel connection methods include the card convex type, the card pressing type and the socket welding type.


1. Features of card convex type
The card convex connection method is an improved method of compression connection technology. It is characterized in that: use a special pipe expanding tool at the appropriate position on the end of the thin-walled stainless steel pipe, roll the pipe outwards (radially) from the inner wall to form a flange ring, and then insert the pipe into the frustum-shaped PTFE with a socket in the pipe fittings of the vinyl seal ring and the lock nut, when the lock nut is tightened, the flange ring pushes and compresses the frustum-shaped PTFE seal ring to play a sealing role. It is easy to install, and the joint is not deformed inside or outside, which is a live connection, which is convenient for maintenance. Scope of application: cold water system, pipe direct drinking water system, water treatment equipment system. Surface installation is more suitable, mainly considering the replacement of the sealing ring in the future, and the hot water system should be avoided as much as possible. The advantage of this connection is that it is simple to install, convenient and easy to maintain. It is relatively simple and convenient to replace the sealing ring in the pipe when it is aging, and it can be replaced as long as the nut is unscrewed. The disadvantage is that the applicable occasion is single, the aging of the sealing ring in the hot water system is more prominent, and the cost is higher. Concealed pipes and hot water systems are generally not recommended.

2. Compression type features
A connection method in which a socket pipe with a sealing ring is used to connect the pipe, and a special tool is used to press the pipe mouth to seal and tighten the pipe. The installation is simple, and the external pipe and the internal rubber ring at the joint are both pressed into a hexagonal shape. Scope of application: cold water system, pipeline direct drinking water system, and exposed pipelines are more suitable. The advantages are: the connection is simple and convenient, the working hours are short, and the cost is moderate. The disadvantage is that the applicable occasion is single and the maintenance is troublesome. The sealing ring in the pipe needs to be replaced when it is aging. Because the connection has been stuck, the replacement requires sawing off both ends of the pipe. The hot water system should also be avoided as much as possible, mainly because of the uncertainty of the service life of the sealing ring in the hot water system. Therefore, concealed pipelines and hot water systems are generally not recommended.

3. Features of socket welding type
The socket welding type absorbs mechanical connections such as ring pressure type and clamping type, and draws on the advantages of simple socket insertion of copper pipes and plastic pipe fittings. Installation is slightly more troublesome than the above two types, but it is a jointless connection, which is safer and more reliable. There is no internal sealing ring, which is a dead connection. It has a wide range of applications, both exposed and concealed installations. It is more suitable for cold water systems and hot water systems. Once installed, it is basically unnecessary to consider maintenance. This type of connection has been used on copper pipes for many years, and the Ministry of Construction now focuses on recommending this type of jointless connection for stainless steel connections.
