EU Extends Preliminary Anti-Dumping Investigation Period of Stainless Steel Cold Rolling to China
Foreign media reported that the Trade Commission of the European trade and Industry Department and the Ministry of energy on the 22 day called the relevant industries to extend the preliminary investigation period for the stainless steel flat products in mainland China and Taiwan, China.
The preliminary investigation period was adjusted from September 25, 2020 to December 24, 2020 to September 25, 2020 to February 24, 2021, i.e. the preliminary investigation period was extended for two months because additional investigations, such as meetings of producers, importers and exporters and stakeholders, had to be conducted.
The European Commission has already started reviewing the existing anti-dumping measures against stainless steel cold-rolled coils imported from mainland China and Taiwan Chinese mainland.
The review was initiated after Eurofer, the European Union of iron and steel industries, submitted its application in early May and is expected to be completed by the end of 2021. During this period, the current anti-dumping duty of 6.8% to 25.3% (depending on supplier) will continue. The review could lead to another five years of anti-dumping duty.
"The evidence provided by the applicant ‘Eurofer’ shows that if the anti-dumping measures are allowed to expire, the imports of the products under review from the relevant countries and regions are likely to increase significantly in view of the unused capacity in the relevant countries and regions and the attractiveness of the EU market," the European Commission said. "In addition, if no measures are taken, the export prices of relevant countries and regions will be at a low level, which is enough to further damage the EU industry.
