Influence of silicon steel material on transformer performance
Core loss in a transformer mainly includes hysteresis loss and eddy current loss. Silicon steel has the advantage of low core loss. The addition of silicon and special manufacturing processes make the hysteresis loop of silicon steel narrower, significantly reducing hysteresis loss. At the same time, silicon steel sheets are usually laminated and insulated on the surface, which effectively reduces the cross-sectional area of the eddy current path and increases the eddy current resistance, thereby reducing eddy current loss. Lower core loss means less energy is wasted as heat in the core during transformer operation, improving the overall energy efficiency of the transformer.
