Precautions for using stainless steel products

Stainless steel has good corrosion resistance, is durable and easy to clean, so many families will choose stainless steel tableware, cooking utensils and other products. However, stainless steel products have a lot of emphasis on selection, use and care. Today, I will share with you what you should pay attention to when using stainless steel.

For purchasing stainless steel products, 304 steel is recommended. 304 steel (refers to stainless steel with a chromium content of 18% and a nickel content of 8%) is widely used in corrosion-resistant containers, tableware, furniture, railings, medical equipment, etc. When buying stainless steel products, you must be optimistic about the type of label. There are often three codes on stainless steel tableware: "13-0" (420 steel), "18-0" (430 steel), and "18-8" (304 steel). The number in front of the code indicates the chromium content, and the number in the back It represents the nickel content. The safety of stainless steel utensils is mainly due to the migration of heavy metals. Generally speaking, the common 304 steel on the market now has less chromium migration.

Pay attention to the following points when using stainless steel:
Do not store acid-base substances for a long time
Stainless steel has good stability and corrosion resistance, but it does not mean that it will not be corroded or rusted. If salt, vinegar, etc. are stored in stainless steel products for a long time, it will cause rust or "trachoma" on the surface. It is recommended that households use stainless steel products to store such items.

Do not use stainless steel products to decoct Chinese herbal medicines
Chinese herbal medicines have complex ingredients, and most of them contain a variety of bioalkali and organic acids. When heated, it is easy to chemically react with certain components in stainless steel, which reduces the efficacy of the medicine, and may even generate some more toxic substances.

It is not suitable to burn stainless steel products empty
Compared with iron and aluminum products, stainless steel products have lower thermal conductivity and slower heat conduction. Air firing will cause the chrome coating on the surface of the cookware to age and fall off.

Oil and dry before use
In the production process of stainless steel products, rolling, punching, stretching and other processes are generally required to form many tiny pores on the metal surface. If these pores are not closed, it is easy to store dirt and cause rust. So before you start using stainless steel products, you can apply a thin layer of vegetable oil film, and bake it on fire to dry, to cover the stainless steel products with a protective film. This is easy to clean and can extend the service life of stainless steel.

Heat evenly during use
When using stainless steel products to cook food, it is best to distribute the fire evenly so that the stainless steel is heated evenly. This is not easy to paste the pot, and the fried dishes taste better.

Clean after use
After the stainless steel is dirty, do not scrub it with rough cleaning tools such as iron wire balls, emery cloth, etc. This will cause scratches on the surface of stainless steel products. You can use alkaline water at about 50°C and wipe with cotton cloth, so that the stainless steel products will be as bright as before. Washing powder and detergent in the kitchen can also be used to clean stainless steel.
