The development and application of stainless steel has reached a stage of stable and mature development. The application of stainless steel in daily production and life can be seen everywhere. For the treatment process of mirror stainless steel, several steps are involved.
1.Mirror stainless steel selection
Stainless steel materials on the market are generally divided into 2 series stainless steels, 3 series stainless steels, and 4 series stainless steels. The 2 series stainless steels have higher iron content and carbon content, resulting in lower overall performance, poor strength and corrosion resistance, generally Use of low-end products. 3 series stainless steel is preferred, among which the 304 and 316 series are the most commonly used.
For selection
· Low-end products do not have any rigid requirements for the material itself. Choose 2 series stainless steel materials.
· There are certain requirements for the comprehensive performance of steel,it is recommended to choose 304 series materials.
· For high-end electronic components, import and export products, it is recommended to use 316 series stainless steel.
2.Mirror stainless steel polishing
Mirror stainless steel polishing is generally used:
· Wheel type grinding methods such as grinding wheel and belt.
· The drum is equipped with grinding stones and other abrasive particles in the form of vibration grinding.
· Direct machining or surface grinding on lathe.
Grinding wheels and belt wheel grinding methods are commonly used for specification planes or plates. For the special-shaped curved surface, the surface lines are extremely complicated, and the roller polishing method is adopted. Aiming at the flat arc-shaped products of electronic components, it is directly processed by lathe or surface grinding. For the selection of grinding materials, the basic principle is the same, to ensure the flatness and smoothness of the stainless steel processing plane. All grinding methods use abrasives in contact with stainless steel under the action of the medium to generate grinding force to achieve surface removal. Under this principle, to ensure that the abrasive has a strong grinding force, brown corundum is generally used with extremely high hardness and grinding force.
Matters needing attention in polishing mirror stainless steel:
· Ensure that the abrasive has extremely high hardness and strong grinding force.
· Ensure that abrasives and grinding media have strong adhesion. In the stainless steel grinding process, there is insufficient abrasive adhesion, which causes the abrasive particles to remain in the grinding scratches to form gaps. Oxygen enters, forming local black and yellow, and subsequent corrosion.
The particle size of the abrasive should be uniform to avoid uneven surface thickness after grinding, which will affect the subsequent finer processing.
3.Mirror stainless steel molding
After the material selection and polishing process are completed, it enters the last link of mirror stainless steel processing-polishing.
1). Rough toss
The main purpose of rough polishing is to process the remaining polishing traces in the polishing process. The polishing material is generally treated with a hemp wheel and rough polishing wax. The high pressure and the high temperature generated by the polishing wheel and the steel are used to form a large pressure rolling effect on the surface of the stainless steel. The ductility achieves the effect of surface smoothness and removal of sanding marks. According to the thickness of the grinding marks, the choice of hemp wheel is generally extra hard ≥ hard ≥ hard ≥ soft ≥ soft. The corresponding polishing wax selection is: strong cutting black wax (purple wax) ≥ cutting purple wax ≥ large white wax (big blue wax). Under such a polishing method, it is basically satisfied with the treatment of polishing traces (except in special cases).
2). Mid throw
The middle polishing stage is progressively advanced by the rough polishing stage, and the main purpose is to deal with the traces remaining in the rough polishing stage and further improve the surface smoothness and gloss. The main points of rough polishing material selection pay attention to the following points:
· Choose a pure cotton polishing cloth wheel with a slightly thicker fabric in the fabric throwing process (spun cotton, canvas, rain-proof cloth, denim and other miscellaneous cloths)
· The selection of the matching polishing wax is: large white wax ≥ large green wax (medium polishing blue wax) ≥ medium polishing small white wax. Green wax (product with higher requirements)
· The direction of medium throwing and rough throwing are alternate covering directions.
3). Fine polishing (mirror molding):
Finish polishing is mainly for the final refinement of the residual traces produced by the middle polishing, and finally form a mirror effect.
Pay attention to the following points in material selection:
· The polishing wheel fabric is more refined, generally pure cotton bleached cloth. This fabric has finer warp and weft yarns and fine softness, which has an excellent effect on the mirror surface.
· The polishing wax chooses super-finished white wax (different from medium-polished white wax) and super-finished small green wax (different from medium-polished green wax). After the super-finishing step is completed, the stainless steel surface can achieve extremely high flatness and super-finish mirror surface effect.
